(i) The World is too much with us; late and soon;

Getting and spending, We lay waste our powers;

Little we see in Nature that is ours,

We have given our hearts away, a sordid boon!

(ii) Heaven rings with laughter of the laughter vain,

Dulness, good Queen, repeats the jest again.

Three wicked imps of her own Grub street choir She decked like Congreve, Addison and Prior.

O, how shall summer’s honey breath hold out Against the wreckful siege of batt’ring days;

When rocks, impregnable are not so stout, Nor gates of steel so strong, but Time decays ?

iv) Shake hands for ever, cancel all our vows,

And when we meet at anytime again,

Be it not seen in either of our brows,

That we one jot of former love retain.

Perhaps in this neglected spot is laid Some heart once pregnant with celestial fire;

Hands that the rod of empire might have sway’d, Or wak’d to ecstasy the living lyre.

I will arise and go now, and go to Innisfree,

And a small cabin build there, of clay and wattles made.

Nine bean-rows will I have there, a hive for the honey-heeAnd live alone in the bee-loud glade.
