Starbucks is said to be shutting several of its locations. These comprise 16 shops in various cities.

Starbucks said that the shutdown was required due to safety concerns and the prevention of assaults. Stores in Seattle, Portland, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Washington, DC, and Oregon will shut.

According to the Wall Street Journal, an official announcement from Starbucks said that the firm is increasingly worried about the safety of its employees in certain locations, citing the consequences of misbehaviour perpetrated by some customers as seen in particular places.

It was also said that, according to employee accounts, some Starbucks customers use narcotics while in their stores.

During an interview with Insider, a Starbucks spokeswoman said;

We are shutting certain shops in places that have had a high frequency of problematic situations, making it hazardous to continue operations, and opening other sites with safer circumstances after careful evaluation.

Employees are also “seeing directly the difficulties affecting our communities—personal safety, prejudice, a lack of access to healthcare, a growing mental health crisis, escalating drug use, and more,” according to the statement.

With locations in hundreds of towns around the nation, we know that same issues may arise inside our stores as well.”
